Jerusalem department’s office of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society is consecrated
On 7 March 2006, Archimandrite Elisei, chief of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, consecrated a temporary office of the Jerusalem Department of the revived Imperial Orthodox Palestinian society (IOPS).
In his address, Archimandrite Elisei spoke of the IOPS founders and underscored the historic role of the society, which had worked together with the Russian Ecclesiastic Mission since 1882 to receive pilgrims coming to the Holy Land. The Mission’s Chief presented the head of the IOPS Palestinian Department Pavel Platonov with the icon of the Holy Royal Passion-bearers.
